Finding the skulls on halo 3
Start with something you know, right?
Anyways, here is the location of the skulls:
Gold skulls
Gold skulls just need to be picked up by one person. After that, you have the skull and can quit the level
Picking up a gold skull unlocks an achievement named after the skull worth ten gamer points.
Iron - At the end of the level when the pelican lands, instead of entering, stand on the roof of the room where Johnson is held captive, face the pelican and then look left. up a little higher there should be a catwalk. follow it towards the pelican until you find a set of pipes that act as a ramp up, then walk to the very end and look around for the skull.
Black eye - One of my friends got this for me so I just pulled this off of x360a.com
From the start (of crows nest) without moving anything you can see a massive pipe above you. Walk up the stairs then up the next set, turn to your left and jump up on the shelf unit. From there jump to the red cross beam then up onto the pipe, from there just walk to the end and walk over the Black Eye skull to claim it. You don't have to pick this one up it does it automatically.
Tough luck - On Tsavo highway, after the first shield you deactivate, on the left there is a pipe. climb the ladder and jump onto the rock ledge right in front of you. next, jump down (trust me on this one) and try and land on the platform underneath. on the edge furthest from the highway there is another, bigger rock ledge with a skull on it. you can get back up by climbing the wall on the side of the highway opposite the skull and pipe.
Catch - On the level "the storm" in the area where there are two AA wraiths, there is a silo on top of which is the skull. you can get this by 'nade jumping (explained in famine) off a warthog, or by jumping off somebody's head (who is standing on a warthog)
note: destroying one of the AA wraiths makes the skull disappear.
Fog - At the beginning of floodgate, on the first building on the right, there should be a flood elite (I think) holding a skull. you have to shoot him as he is jumping off, or else the skull is lost.
Famine - On "the ark," there is a building between the LZ and the door guarded by sentinels that spark opens. you can drive a ghost up the wall to the top, where you can see into the gap in the pillars. the pillar closest to the door has the skull in it. you can get up to it by stacking two ghosts on top of each other; standing on someone else's head or 'nade jumping (throwing a grenade on the ground before jumping)
Thunderstorm - On "the covenant" after you get the hornets, fly to the second tower. It should say that the elites shut it down already, but go ahead and look. There is a terminal and at the top of the walkable areas there is the skull.
Tilt - On the level cortana, in the room where she is (presumably, in some weird flashback talk) asking masterchief if he likes to play games. on the left from where you enter, in that room there is a purple thingy you can jump on to jump to a platform on a pillar that has integrated it into the wall. from there you can jump onto the next level (it looks like the roof if you aren't looking for it) as proof of concept you can also throw a grenade up over the edge of the purple part of the ceiling and you can see it disappear over the edge.
Mythic - On halo (the last level) at the very beginning, walk in the direction you are supposed to go in, but look right. after you enter a cave-like area, there should be a small pathway that ends very quickly. at the end there should be the mythic skull
Silver skulls
Silver skulls are a little tricky. You have to complete the level while holding the skull to unlock it
Silver skulls do not have an achievement.
Blind - on the first level, after your first encounter with enemies (and a phantom) there should be a waterfall, head right (instead of left) and head into the bushes. there should be a big rock that juts out with a skull on the end.
Cowbell - After beating the scarab on the level "the ark", go into the building in the center and look around for a portable grav lift. after that, head further into the level until you find a transparent ramp with a high ceiling. the cowbell skull is in one of the
use the grav lift about half way up the first segment of ramp, and jump towards the
IWHBYD - on the level "the covenant", after killing truth and beating the flood, there are seven rings on the bridge. we will number them 1 (the one closest to the entrance) and 7 (the one closest to truth). 4 is identifiable by its partial red glow. 4 2 3 4 3 5 4
If that order doesn't work, try it in reverse order. (1 at truth, 7 at entrance)
Grunt birthday party - On the level crows nest, soon after getting your weapons there is an area with drones flying in and out of pipes. after defeating them, walk to the edge of the platform (the skull is now underneath you) walk off slowly and as soon as you are off, bring the left stick back as far as it will go.
if you got it right, you should be standing underneath the platform you were just on, and able to pick up the skull next to you. (YAAAY!)
One last thing
You unlock a final movie by beating halo (the last level, not the game) on legendary with ALL the skulls on

This is my first post and I don't have enough achievements to complete a full guide, so I thought I should explain the layout.
Name Category Difficulty:*** (out of 3) 20 G

Name is self explanatory
Achievements will be placed and submitted in categories (Single player, Multiplayer, Online, DLC, and Other)
Difficulty represents how hard I think it is to get (1-3) or bronze, silver, gold, and platinum for ps3
Gamer points (G) represents the value that the designers have put on this achievement
Help will give you enough information to get that achievement (location, items needed, difficulty settings, don't do this, Etc.)
Notes will be added after help, as well as the modes this can be attempted on (single player, multiplayer, system link, online, and offline)
